Birdsong

In the first few weeks of owning the book I decided I was going to push on and try to spend a lot of time reading it. My aim was to immerse myself in what I had been told was an 'Amazing' plot. In these few weeks I did get to about page 200 BUT it was not an easy task. I found the first 'part' of the book, although descriptive, very tedious. I became so tired of wading through page after page of description that I left the book sitting on my desk for weeks. I have recently come back to the book and really enjoyed the second and third 'parts' but have lost touch with the original storyline, detaching me from the emotions that I believe I should be feeling at this later stage in the book. I belive I may have to re-read the first few chapters in order to gain the books full effect.
